New to OrCad and PCB Design Editor

Hi,

I'm new to this board and just began using PCB Editor so I have a few questions about footprints.

I am wondering what "regular" users do in regards to footprints that are not found in the libraries.  I have gathered information from the data sheets in regards to the lead spacing and lead diamter of my components, but I'm not sure if there is a way to modify an existing part or existing .dra file to match my specifications, or if I would need to create a new component and its padstack for my pcb.

Thanks for your help.

This is a personal preference.   I don't use any of the canned footprints that came with Allegro.  But when I do make a new footprint I often take an existing and modify it for the new part.

Also think about using the package wizard and then adding what ever you need for your company requirements on a part.
