DRC errors in artwork

Dennis H
Dennis H over 15 years ago

 Hello,

After I make my artwork and when I review them I notice a bunch of DRC errors on all my components. Does anyone know why?

I run my DRC when the layout is done and it tells me there is none.

Thanks.

You don't specify the exact steps used but I suspect that you created the artwork and then used File>Import>Artwork to review it. Thing is that the Artwork data is designed to drive a photoplotter, not a PCB Design tool, so all the net and rule data has gone and the data is now just lines and shapes, import this into an ETCH layer and all the lines and shapes have no nets / rules / etc so you get a bunch of DRCs. Either ignore the DRCs, since the photplotter data does not have the required intelligence for DRC, or create a user class / subclass, or subclasses, to import the artwork data into, these won't have the same rules as the ETCH layers and you won't get any DRCs. (As a test, search the artwork data for any net names, there won't be any)
