netlist problem demo version 16.3 with windows7 64bit

Hi I  am currently testing the 16.3 version in demo mode on a windos 7 64 bit system.

I never used orcad pcb with orcad PCB. In the past used orcad 10 with layout for most of my designs and the previous emoyer switched to  altium designer so I never had the 'smooth transition' to orcadpcb.

Now I am temporary employed at another company and asked or my opinion.

So I installed the demo version of the DVD  to my own PC and started testing.

I used the flow tutorial design "fulladder" and schematic operations look OK. I can edit and change parts if I want.

Now when I use the fresh copy from  the fulladder tutorial zipfile and try to generate a netlist.

I check the boxes for :

Create  PCB editor netlist

View output

Create or update PCB editor board

and I select do not open board file.

In the setup button I do not see the config file selected but i tried both without the fie selected and with the cfg file in the capture folder

When I click on OK I see the rotating progress cursor but nothing happen.

No error message and no view of the generated netlist and no files in the /allegro folder

Trying the same at the PC at work however (windows XP) looks correct. I get 3windows

pstxnet.dat, pstchip.dat , pctxprt.dat

So I know for sure the design files are OK and the software operates on XP.

Now why is there a problem on Windows 7 X64? And more important how to solve this?

Greets

Bert

First off, Windows 7 of any variety is not currently supported by any Cadence SPB software.

You can probably get this to work by taking the "Run as Administrator" option for the Capture shortcut - this is described is capKPNS for the Vista OS, the internal software components need to be registered once, then it will be possible to create the netlist without elevated rights.
