How to create a mechanical/unplated hole - PCB Editor 16.2

I'm trying to use Pad Designer to create a mounting hole (unplated).  It won't save the file correctly if I don't have a pad.  Of course I can make a small pad and drill it away with a bigger drill size.  However, the layout is going to show the small drill-away pads.My question is

How do I creat a simple mechanical without having to create a pad?

(I select Null in Regular pad/Thermal Relief/Anti-pad sections, but does not work).

Thanks

Give a pad size smaller than the drill size.  On the first tab under hole type is Plating and select Non-Plated.

That's how I do it, but don't like seeing the useless pads (can be confusing) although they will be drilled away.  I was hoping there's a way to create a mechanical drill hole that does not have any pad.

I would like to know this also.  I want to add a mechanical hole to my .brd design.  I wish there was just a simple option for adding a hole (maybe there is an I just don't see it).

    Hello,

Our firm and I is quite new to Orcad PCB Designer, and had a hired engineer to set up the padstacks and footprints. He used also the way with the smaller pad, but watch out!!.

The pad does the constraint to hole invalid and orcad use the constraint to pad only. When designing boards with both high voltages and demands of miniaturization I need to specify a spacing to hole constrain to the high voltage nets. (It make you more failproof and you can layout more quickly using dynamic shapes). Without this distance to hole a spark trough the hole to a different layer may occure.

However, I just started to get this right. Set all pads in the stack to null exept the antipad.  Now you are able to save the pad, but you will get a lot of warnings. So far so good. Please reply if you think this can cause me any trouble later on.

/New in Orcad - Old in bussiness.

Have you use route keep-out?  That might do the trick.
