Highlighting features between tool versions

 All,

I am running Allegro PCB Design L 16.2. In my previous life, I used Allegro Expert. In my version I cannot highlight different nets with different colors. I have one default color to choose from. I don't even have a hilight icon in my toolbar only in a drop down. Is this just a difference in tool levels? It's very annoying!

The old Hilight command has been replaced with the Display >Assign Color command.
The way assign color works is that if you assign a color to or highlight a net, all it's pins, vias, etc. inherit the color or "highlighting". You then have the option to go into the color form and assign a different color to etch, pins, vias of that net via the "nets" section of the color form. At that point, these objects have their own color and do not inherit the assigned color.

    Hope this helps

    Rik,

Thanks for that insight. So Cadence did this on purpose? It was quick and easy to assign temp colors. This is one item in all my years of using Allegro that I vehemently disagree with.

    Cheers,

Nothing has really changed but the icon looks different.  Display->Highlight is useless now.

Why someone thought a change was needed in a fundamental operation is beyond me.

Oh, and why "assign color" and "dehighlight" ? :)

    Grrrr..r.r.rrr..r
