Doubts on Hierarchical schematic design

Hi friends, I have some doubts on Hierarchical schematics design using Allegro Design Entry CIS. Can you please clarify my below questions? 1.       On a Hierarchical schematics Design, we can present a single schematic page in multiple occurrences mode. Lets say for example of 4 times a page. On these 4 pages we have same ref des for all  parts. If we have resistors ‘RA1, RB1, RC1 ’ in first occurrences then all the other 3  occurrences pages will show the same ref des for these resistors ‘RA1, RB1, RC1 ’. Actually I want a ref des of ‘RA2, RB2, RC2 ’ in second occurrences and ‘RA3, RB3, RC3 ’ in third and ‘RA4, RB4, RC4 ’ in fourth occurrences schematic page. Please let me know how can I get this done with the tool?2.       And in multiple occurrences mode, we have same number of components on all pages. If we say a first occurrence page has totally 10 resistors then all other occurrences pages have totally 10 resistors. If I want to add another 5 resistors on 3rd occurrence schematics page alone then what should I do. Please clarify this too.

Thanks in advance. Please clarify my doubts.

Hierarchical designs can be "simple" or "complex". In a "simple" hierarchical design, each H-block references its own schematic folder, so the contents of the schematics do not have to have the same topology. In a "complex" hierarchical design, multiple H-blocks reference the same schematic folder, so the contents of the schematics must have the same topology but may have different values assigned to the properties (the Occurrences properties) For the annotation that you require, the components must be assigned component references manually. You may use a "simple" hierarchy, no repeated H-blocks, or a "complex" hierarchy, some repeated H-blocks to get your desired results.

    Hi Oldmouldy,

Thank you very much for your explanation about the "simple" and "complex" heirarchical schmatic designs.

Now i'm cleard that, complex Hierarchical design should have same topplogy. But our requirement is that, we have to add some test points or resistors only to 3rd occurrences schematic page of complex Heirarchi design with 5 multiple occurrence schematic pages. please let me know if we have any option to do this.

    Thanks,

    Lingamoorthi
