Allegro trimming silkscreen

Hi,

Is there a way to automatically trim the silkscreen. I don't want silkscreen on my pads... (Some manufacturers trim the silkscreen, others don't)

Greetings,

JGeens

Yes.  Under "Manufacture" look for Silkscreen.  Autosilk generation will trim off of pads.

I tried this several times, but each time I use this autosilk, Allegro freezes... (It starts, but it never stops and then it freezes)

I have used Allegro 16.2 and I also tried 16.3... (I have a pcb with +- 1000components on it, so maybe it is to big?)

Any work around for this problem?

Probably going to need to contact Cadence support on this one.  Size is no where near a problem for Allegro.  Try 10,000 components :)

Have you run DBDoctor on it to make sure the database doesn't have a bug?

Did you set up the parameters correctly?

Did you let it run "a while"? :)

I have used the autosilk trimming on a BRD and the resulting autosilk has trimmed the lines away from all exposed pads and vias, but the text has just copied instead of copy and trimming.

What setting are needed to trim the text as well? Why doesn't the text shape convert into lines and arcs that are then trimmed away from the pads and exposed vias the same as the outlines?

If you think about this - if you allow text to be cut and trimmed you could have the option of not be able to distinguish between two different ref des like P1 and R1. Hence the Autosilk allows options to displace the text rather than trim.....
