asign a net name to a dummy net

I am a new user of Allegro PCB editor of OrCAD 16.2. I want to modify an existed PCB design (*.brd). I add a set of new connect pins and want to assign nets to that pins (dummy nets). Question is I do not know how to do it.

I read someone's suggestion is utilizing "Net Logic" on Logic menu. But I not found "Net Logic" on Logic menu. There are only "Identify DC Nets", "Assign EefDes", and "Auto Refdes".

I was stopped there, please giving me a clear method to solve it. Thank you!!

I take it you have the new connect pins  on the schematic?  It is a simple matter to assign net names in OrCAD and then import the netlist into Allegro. Is this what you are referring to?

    Cheers,

Hi, thank you for your response. I am not describing clear. My situation is that I only have a PCB design without relative schematic. (actually I have a PDF schematic). I want to connect orignally unused pins out.

First I use "place manual" and choose a "HDR 1x32" from "package symbols". But all pins are "dummy net", I want to asign nets to these new pins. Then I can route it. Problem is I do not know how to assign nets to them.

    thanks!

Allegro is a netlist driven layout tool.  The best way is with a schematic but....since you don't have one you have to use an alternate method:Logic->Net Logic

Follow the prompts and/or contact Cadence for more help.

As I mensioned before, there is no "Net Logic" under "Logic" menu. Thanks for your response.

Sorry I missed your first description.  If you don't see Net Logic then you don't have a high enough license.  Has to be performance level license or higher.

You still need to get a netlist which can be hand created/changed.

Do a file export of the netlist and change the netlist in a text editor and then read it back in through a 3rd party netlist in.
