How to export components to IDF file?

Hi all,

I am using Orcad PCB editor 16.2.  I need to export all components library to IDF format. (PTC format one of IDF type which gives *.emn & *.emp file)

Procedure i followed.  File > export > IDF> then file name type PTC, used default height. then exported.

I tried component individaully exported to PTC format, that has generated above mentioned file format but nothing in it except some headers and footers. no height limit nothing. Our mechanical guys said nothing in that file.

Then I just tried a board file havinga same components on it, when i exported the board this gave me a good file which is having components height details and XY coordinates also.

Is it not possible to export each components individually? I followed help file also but no use for components....

Please help me regarding this.

thanks

Prasanna

The IDF export only exports IDF data based on what is in the board file. If you need to generate a library then you will have to create a board with all your footprints placed then export it that way. You cannot do this direct from a library. (Well I have never found a way to do it).
