push occ prop in instance

Hi!  All the Orcad Experts,

Is there any danger to use <push occurance properties into instance>?  It's under <Accessories> manu.

I tried it and seems to be fine, but I am afraid of hidden problems.

Please share any experience with it.

Thanks!

Actually it's good thing once the design has been backannotated. It's *very* necessary in some circumstances...no problems found as of yet.

    Hi

I would take care when using this function, it does not push all occurence properties back to instances. What problem are you trying to solve by pushing the occurance properties back to instances?

    Best regards

    Ole

When you have a FLAT schematic or SIMPLE hierarchy schematic, then there

is no danger in pushing Occurrences into instances.

If you have a COMPLEX hierarchy ( one schematic view instantiated more than once in another schematic),

then by pushing Occurrences into instances you will be loosing information.

In a COMLEX hierarchy design multiple occurrences could be created for 1 instance.

    Thanx for all the replies.

by using this function (option), I would like to 'remove' or 'consolidate' the attributes in both instance mode and occurance mode.  the existing design is in hierarchical structure, but it's not very complex.  In another words, I am trying to eliminate the yellow columns (or rows) when I edit properties.

Could you please share what information would be lost if I use this option?

    Thanks!

COMPLEX Hierarchy is a design where one schematic view is instantiated multiple times on an upper level of hierarchy.

So there are several instances on the upper level that correspond to the same Schematic View.

If you do not have a COMPLEX  hierarchy, then there will be no occurrence data loss when Occurrences are  pushed into the properties

on instances. Original values of properties on instances will be substituted by Occurrence properties values.
