Hover over - datatips only works sometimes

For some reason the datatips function doesn't seem to properly.

When i hover over a symbol nothing is displayed, but when i select the symbol and move it the datatip will show for that symbol or an other if i quickly hover over a new symbol. I am only able to this once per symbol move. 

I have tried to disable and then enable datatip (datatips_diable) in user preferences and also tried to set down delay time (datatips_delay) to 100ms, but no change in this starnge behavior.

Any suggestions ?

    Hi Kim

    I've seen the same thing, using the Find panel in the folded away mode seems to solve the issue at my site.

    I have this same problem with my computer at home (16.3, win7 64 bit). No datatips.

    It seems to work just fine on my computer at work (16.3, winxp pro 32 bit) even with the find folder pinned.

    Is this a win7 issue?

    Young might he right. I have the same problem in win 7 bit not in xp. So this might just be a win 7 issue.

    Datatips only seem to be displayed here in my XP environment when the window containing the graphics canvas has “focus”.

    If the window does not have focus and you hover over an element, that element will highlight although no datatip will be displayed until some action is taken to give the window its focus. Your description of selecting a component is one such action.

    Moving across windows, and indeed across screens, (from Schematics- to Constraint Manager- to PCB Editor)  exacerbates this behavior. I submitted a bug report over a year ago.
