Capture not able to generate pcb editor netlist files

Bhuwan Sahni

Whwn I prepare any project in orcad capture and then create netlist for the Pcb Editor and i chose the option to open the board file in allegro pcb editor . When i click ok it just displays the message that the project will be saved prior to netlisting and i chose ok.

After it nothing happens . no files are generated and PCB Editor does not open. I have added the allegro.cfg file in setup option.

The design is ok.

Help Me Please????

    Hi

I would check the session log in Capture, did the netlist operation complete without any errors?`Typically if nothing happens its because the netlister did not complete its tasks.

Can you copy the content from your session log (Windows->Session log) so that we can help determine the cause of this problem.

    Best regards

    Ole

Actually the session log does not show anything It is blank. In the create netlist box when I click ok. It just says design will be saved prior to netlisting. I clicked Ok and nothing happens.

I have done the design rules check and it was successful. Its output in session log is

I am using Win 7 64 bit home Premium and orcad 16.3 . Is it to do anything with the version of windows??  Or there is a problem with the installation of Orcad??

    Hi Bhuwan.

If it's ok, please send me the .dsn file and I'll run the netlister and see what errors occur on my side. I've been using Capture/Allegro interface for years and have seen most all problems. I would be able to see something wrong within the schematic. I don't care about the design content - only helping out (e.g. your database will be deleted from my machine as soon as I figure out your problem).

You will need to go to the Capture shortcut, or Capture CIS shortcut (if that is what you are using), and right-click>Run as Administrator to get the software components correctly registered. This is a known issue with Windows Vista and Windows 7 when UAC is enabled.
