missing reference designators

 It appear I deleted some. I see how to add simple text to the silkscreen layer but it isn't hooked to the part symbol.

    Use Place >Update Symbols to refresh the symbols from the library to get the refdes information back. You can choose to refresh all or some by selecting individal symbols in the GUI.

     yes that makes sense and I tried that but still no reference visible for the part.  I checked the box to reset symbol text locations as well.

     okay did something dumb and moved it off of the silkscreen layers so found it thanks.

     nope still doing dumb things. All I found is the assembly text. Arggg it is just gone and updating the symbol doesn't get it back.

     hm it was missing from the symbol itself.
