silkscreen width help

greetings,

I have a problem generating artwork for the silkscreen layer.  my package outlines are fine, but my REF designators are aparently a width of 0, and not being drawn.  if I go to EDIT>CHANGE, then OPTIONS>REF DES>SILKSCREEN_TOP>WIDTH=8, select all my of REF DES, the options panel says "Text already matches options panel settings" however, if I set the width to 9 it will also say "Text already matches options panel settings".  moreover, it still wont generate silkscreen in my artwork.  I tried running the autosilk thing on the package outlines and ref des, but it didn't seem to do anything.

also, is there a way to see the actual width of the silkscreen in the design?  it is currently 1 pixel wide.  I would rather see the actual width of the text.

any help would be great, thanks

Try doing a Show Element on your text to obtain the TEXT_BLOCK#, then change the photoplot width for that text block.

It depends on your version of Allegro.  For 16.x, Setup->Design Parameters->Text->Setup Text Sizes.  Then find your text block row and change the number in the Photo Width column.  FYI, you should be able to find these basic items in the Help section (even though it isn't always easy).

    btw, it's 16.0.  sorry I didn't mention that.

I had looked in the help before, but it is really hard to find information.  that worked, and now I can generate my silkscreen ok.

do you know how to change the widthe of a rectangle?  I imported a package, and it's outline in zero-width.  if I try to EDIT>CHANGE it will tell me I can't change the width of a rectanle.

    Thanks for your help.

Don't think you can.  An alternative is to draw the rectangle using Add Line.  Then you can change the width of the line.
