Error Message

When I double click on a .brd file or .opj file I get the following error message (The procedure entry point iRedsPIInitConfiguration could not be located in the dynamic link library consmgr.dll). I can find other error messages that sort of relate to this in Sourcelink but not specifically this message. I have multiple versions of Allegro on my PC and am currently using 16.2 L. We use Windows XP.

I have tried deleting the associations for the .opj and .brd and manually adding them back but that's not working either. Any help would be appreciated.

You should use the Cadence switchversion program to assign the file associations. The error message indicates that you are accessing an allegro.exe from one release and you have your PATH variable pointing to a difference release. Once you use the switchversion program to assign file associations the association will change automatically when you switch releases.

Where is the switch release for 16.2? I can find it but only listed for 16/16.01 program. I was looking for it but couldn't find it for 16.2.

It is at the top level of the Cadence Start menu look. You should always use the latest version when switching releases.

There is no switch release or switch version in my Cadence 16.2 start menu! There is in the older versions that I have and I have used it before.

I would use it for 16.2 but it wasn't there so I was asking if there was another way to do it; or where specifically to locate it.

I didn't install the software but I would assume that a standard installation was done. The other designers that I checked with do not have it listed either. Do I need to track down the software from IT and try to find it there? Thanks

Depending on how the software was installed some of the shortcuts may not appear in the Start Menu, not sure why but I have seen it happen in the past.  Anyway you will find the "Cadence Switch Release" program in the following location:

    Folder Location: %CDSROOT%\tools\bin
    Program name: switchversion.exe

%CDSROOT% is the Windows Environmental Variable which is mapped to the Root Cadence Installation directory. You can type the exact folder location above in Window Explorer and it will navigate you to the appropriate directory were you can find "switchversion.exe"

    Hope this helps,
