symbols placement

Hello everyone,

My OrCAD PCB designer installation (ver 16.3) is having some issues when I try to place symbols. I have alreay set up all the hot-fix patches so I was assuming this issue should not be related to missing upgrades.

I did DB-doctored all symbols as well just to be sure the problem was not related to their DB version.

Packages symbols: The manual option in the Place drop-down menu didn't allow me to set my symbols. The only way they appeared was by using the Quickplace menu instead. I don't think is the best way to play my packages but it worked for now. I made sure all my symbols were reachable at the defined psmpath and padpath locations. Am I missing something here?

Mechanical and format symbols: When I tried to place these types of symbols, I was not able to select them from the Placement List. I'm able to see them but the checkbox at the left of their names does not show up for neither of them. I did select the Library option in the Advanced Settings tab just to make sure I was adding the right libraries. Do you guys have any suggestion?

 I appreciate your help.

We have seen this issue on certain Windows 7 laptops…

try opening Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Display & change to a smaller size – the default 125% might be the issue
