Orcad Capture 16.3: Locked schematic Components

I have a component(resistor) which is locked. Even though, the manual says that a component can be locked by Shift+Ctr +left click, it doesn't work. Thus I don't have any ideas how this object got locked in the first place. When I hover my mouse over this resistor, the small pop-up window shows "[R1 Value ] LOCKED. The manual stays silent on how to unlock an object.

Right-click>Edit Part then close the Part Editor, part no longer locked. You probably closed the product or design with the Property or Part Editor open for that part. The Property or Part Editor locks the part in the schematic until the respective editor is closed, if you close the product or design, before closing the editor, nothing clears the lock.
