grid issue for component placement

Dear all, i am trying to place component directly (x=200, y=200).for this i am using command option in that i given x 200 y 200. But component placement having some error like x 198 y 198. y this off set came . how to set grid to avoid this error. Clear my doubts, Praveen

    you should type x 200 200 (for absolute coordinate--means from the origin 0,0 the object is to be place at x=200, y=200).When placing components check also your pick point(under option tab) set to sym orig(symbol origin).

    for incremental or relative coordinate movement you can use the prefix ix for horizantal and iy for vertical. Example, i want to move the component from its original position 200 mils(depend on the unit you set) to the right, just type ix 200 if it its going left ix -200.

     Quite possibly your footprint origin might be off slightly. Check your footprint and see if your 0,0 origin is correct

    Praveen,

    Not sure if this could be it...I had a similar issue and it was because the 0,0 in the library was not exactly where it should have been.  It was due to translation issues moving from Layout to PCB Editor.  I have to move the origin and then do a save as using the same name.  Moving the origin and doing a save did not work due to an issue with the psm file.
