PCB quoting

Hi,

as a PCB designer I always consider the cost of the PCB iam designing, however due to knowledge limitation on the manufacturing costing of the PCB, there are only two factors that i usually consider that is the layer count and hole quantity. I want to know then what are the specifics whent it comes to PCB costing or what are the factors to consider in PCB costing?.Thanks

    Here are a few more aspect of bare board design that could impact cost:

    • PCB's per manufacturing panel
    • Material type
    • Material thicknesses
    • Surface finish
    • Aspect ratio (hole diameter vs. board thickness)
    • Minimum designed spacing/trace width
    • Minimum designed annular ring
    • Electrical constraints/testing requirements (Impedance, high volateg, etc...)

    I'm sure others will think of more...

    thanks for the inputs.

    I have two scenarios thinking how to cut the cost of my pcb when send for fabrication.Iam planning to use an 8 layer board originally from a 10layer board but will need to use a lot of vias to accomodate my routing to an 8layer board or stick to a 10 layer board with less vias to use. Which one will save more bucks given all other factors or materials the same?

    Minimum hole size
    Minimum Clearance
    Base Material
    Legend Silkscreen
    Solder Mask Sides

    Color of the solder mask
    Put solder mask on Via
    Finish Plating
    Gold Fingers

     

    Above factors is cost for our factory quoting to customer.
