.dml files

Hi all,

I'm new to the tool Allegro PCB SI.I came across the word .dml files.Can anyone please explain

  • What are dml files?
  • What is its importance?
  • What is the difference between dml file and .ibs file?

    DML file contains model information - it's Cadence's version of the ibs (earlier versions of the tool couldn't handle native ibs) file.  One DML can contain several espice and ibs models i.e. one dml for all components in a design.  Difference can be seen by openeing the dml and ibs in your favorite text editor.

    DML stands for Device Modeling Language. It is the PCB SI modeling format for everything but interconnect which uses IML. It is a superset of IBIS and handles behavioral models. If you do open it in a text editor, you'll notice that it is lisp-like making it more machine-friendly.
