No Brd output to layout.

So, I follow the steps to create my design (schematic) I get it done, no errors and then save the file.

I try to "Export Physical" to have it able to go into the layout but there seems to be an eternity before it pops up and then it does not create the brd file. When I open the PCB Editorto try open the file it is nwhere to be found!

Am I missing a step? I have tried the tutorials/manuals but to no use asd there is no other step I seem to be missing.

Any help, much appreciated.

You have to have .brd made up already. Once you have exported the physical from the schematic editor, you have to open a.brd file then import the physical. You will also need to have your footprints made up for the component. Otherwise you will not be able to import the schematic.

This is not true.  You can start with a blank file. If you use OrCAD or Concept it will generate a BRD file without an existing file.
Your comments indicate that you are only familiar with the import logic flow.

Back to the OP.  You need to make sure there are no DRC errors or warnings that are tripping up the packager.  Something is preventing it from completing.  Review the session log file.

Or if needed, post up the packager files...

    1) create a "dummy" board in allegro. at least put an outline in and save it (.brd).

    2)  since you have already exported physical, you've created the required files in a folder called PACKAGED

    3) open the .brd file; FILE/IMPORT LOGIC

      - in the import logic GUI, lower right,  browse and select the appropriate PACKAGED folder

      - import logic

if there are no errors, you should be able to start placing your parts (footprints). PLACE COMPONENTS/manual

    GO FOR IT.

     Hi Redwire,

You are correct i didn't realise you could start without a .brd but don't you need a mech (ie board outline, package keepin as a minimum

Do I have to name eachNET? As it stans the NETS are of types like this:

    Signal: UN$1$CAPNP$I17$B selected.

Should I name them as, "NET_1" etc......?
