No Brd output to layout.

So, I follow the steps to create my design (schematic) I get it done, no errors and then save the file.

I try to "Export Physical" to have it able to go into the layout but there seems to be an eternity before it pops up and then it does not create the brd file. When I open the PCB Editorto try open the file it is nwhere to be found!

Am I missing a step? I have tried the tutorials/manuals but to no use asd there is no other step I seem to be missing.

Any help, much appreciated.

You have to have .brd made up already. Once you have exported the physical from the schematic editor, you have to open a.brd file then import the physical. You will also need to have your footprints made up for the component. Otherwise you will not be able to import the schematic.

     Thanks!

So I need to make the board, place on the footprints of components and then import the physical?

Also, why does it take FOREVER to export? Is that becasue it is sea5rching for the .brd that is not there?

    Again, thanks

You don't need to have the footprints already placed on the board. They just need to be made up and in the right path for the physical to import correctly.

thanks. I have all the footprints in the library already. So I start the PCB editor and use the wizard to create the board (.brd) with the same name?

Sorry to be such a numpty!

So I made the boardoutline and have it named as the schematic so now when I try to export the physical, it seriously HANGS! It does not show the pop up window for AGES!

Is there a way to import or connect the .sch with the .brd ?

     It is becoming annoying now!
