Orcad Library Share

Hello,

I am not an Orcad user, just a simple IT guy trying to get Orcad setup for the few EE's we have at my company. My company purchased PCB Design and didn't opt for CIS. We are coming from Mentor Graphics where we had the ability to save library files in a network share and point the application to that share when opening projects. I have gone through some of the tutorials and read some forums and it is pretty obvious CIS is typcially used when sharing/maintaining library files. CIS isn't an option for us though since we only have a couple EE's using these files and the cost can't be justified. I realize there is a concern about file management and data loss, but I am just curious if there is any way to simply save library files in one location and have the EE's point their Orcad PCB design application to that by default?? If so, how would one accomplish this?

Yeah, this is possible...inside OrCAD Capture just invoke the command to add part and this should allow you to select the library (.OLB) using the Browse button/icon (not in front of OrCAD right now) and using the Browse option you should be able to specify the UNC path if the library path is not mapped OR if the path is mapped then just select the drive and .olb and that's all.
