Component Information System Basics

Hi,

Im a beginner in Cadence.Previously using Altium Designer..I had to change because my team changed..

I believe there is a component information system in Capture..Im using Cadence 16.2

What i would like to do is integrate digikey component parameters into the schematic component properties..so that when generating BOM all these information is converted to a excel sheet.

I altium there had been a brief setup procedure after which you could hit the Digikey part number in a search box inside schematics that will display digikey part nos then i needed only just to select the digikey part and click on schematic component i like ...

May be there exists some similar way in capture..?? For the Component information feature to be availble  in Cadence 16.2

1.Shall we need to purchase anything extra ?

2.Is there any good tutorial for a beginner to setup this CIS.

Thanks & Regards

Yes, this capability exists..however a couple of lines in a forum reply are hardly enough to help.

They used to offer the full DigiKey library for CIS...what the state of affairs is today, I don't know.

    Look here: http://www.cadence.com/products/orcad/pages/downloads.aspx#starter

The CIS User guide in its current incarnation is in your doc\cisug directory where you installed OrCAD.

Search the internet for DigiKey starter database....
