I'm not sure how this job description would be changed to make it more "Cadence" specific, but a principal staff designer shared this with me about 15 years ago as an incentive to strive for his position and I have tried to follow this ever since. It is a broader description of what is expected of a senior level designer/engineer:

    Proactively identifies and applies technologies
when preparing program plans.  Seeks out
    information and enforces technology standards.
    Determines technology required to meet
    market requirements and competitive chal-
lenges.  Is sought out for recommendations
regarding technical issues in multiple areas.
Anticipates technology trends & takes approp.
action.  Identifies future technical staffing re-
    quirements & obtains necessary commitments.
Anticipates obstacles and develops ways to
overcome them.  Takes on additional respons-
ibility and initiates actions based on his/her
convictions.  A self-starter who needs minimal
supervison.  Willing to take calculated risks to
    accelerate a program completion.Very effective
in pursuing alternatives to deal with problems
    encountered in a program.
Has made breakthroughs in problems others
were not able to solve.  Is consulted by others
    where innovative approaches are needed.
Challenges others to think in unique
terms and stimulates creativity and innovation
    in addressing issues.
Has helped others expand the area for which
    they make contributions.  Is consistently
sought out by others in order to provide the
focus for solving critical problems.  Solutions
    and recommendations usually become
benchmarks or standards in working similar
    problems throughout the organization.
Effective at quickly solving problems and is
    able to draw accurate conclusions.
Is able to cover a broad range of
problems.  Is able to influence other's
decisions. Effectively manages a broad network
of communications as a tool in problem solving.
Contingency plans for major steps/critical paths
are included in overall plans. Anticipates and
makes changes in program plans in advance to
prevent negative impacts. Goals are well
communicated and understood by all parties
    involved.  Routinely exceeds desired results
    in meeting goals.
Can strongly influence the decisions of others
through persuasive skills.  Sought out by
others for advice on dealing with people and
    can prevent conflicts including potentially
volatile or sensitive situations. Is very effective
in discussing even complex subjects.  Docu-
ments & reports have been used as examples
for others to follow.  Provides a continuous flow
    of accurate and detailed information.
Is sought out by others for guidance and
    counsel.  Has demonstrated leadership skills
in multiple areas.  Excels in coaching others
towards achieving goals.  Quickly develops a
strong sense of cooperation and a high level of
motivation. Has developed people who have
moved into positions of greater responsibility.
Often uses knowledge of the market to identify
    new business ventures/process technologies.
    Develops subordinates to outstanding
    performance.  Utilizes strong coaching and
counseling skills that have resulted in
    optimizing others' performance and careers.
    Has successfully identified and resolved,
within the realm of his/her authority, all
    performance issues.
Encourages, supports, and assists in main-
taining a team atmosphere and cooperative
environment which has led to permanent
    culture changes directed toward proactive
    problem-solving and results.  Mentors team
    activities, and addresses conflicting goals
    between departments.  Quickly gains confid-
ence and respect of others.  Is sought out by
other managers for teamwork advice.  Team
    accomplishments are highly visible and
    recognized by others.
