Hi, I am new to cadence Allegro Software. Been using Altium for the past.

Anyway,Just want to ask, is it possible to copy a template of  package keepout/keepin and the grometry from a old BRD file to another new template BRD file?

and also how to locate the reference point while copying?

    * File export subdrawing (temgroup & select what and all you want)from old board file & import to new board file .

    * One more method is file ->export-->IPF (set the visibility of the classes u want to extarct)while importing to new boad file  select the desired classfrom option menu

*For reference point while copying make use of userpick to select the desired pick

    Regards,

    Girish

    Hi Girish,

I have tried use the DBDoctor, it checked with no error on it.

I believe maybe my old board have packaged the template drawing on "Package Keepout>Top" as a "symbol"

    >>>Unable to paste the symbol - ("1268_1265E_MP_ONLY_CMT_MECH_R2" "MECHANICAL")<<<

I tried to copied some "top Silk" to my new board by the sub-drawing method, its work..

So it is have any method to copy the "symbol" to my new BRD??? other than the method two by IPF u suggest me on previous, because IPF method will copied all my "Top Package Keepout", but i only need some specific Top Package Keepout to copy to my new BRD.

or do i need to add anything on my new BRD before i can import the sub-drawing?

    Please advice, Many thanks

    Regards,

    HC Tneh

    Hi,
Yes , In IPF export it will copy all the thing which is enabled during the export .(you can delete unwanted things).
You are specifying as your keep-out defined as symbol , then try the below one
*Export the libraries from old board file to some folder (FIle—>export->libraries)
*Search the symbol by symbol name & copy to your working library folder (the path defined in User preference->library->psm & pad path)
*in the new board file go to place manually in advance setting include library  & in the placement list u can find your symbol & place it
Not sure whether this will work out !!!!
    Regards,
    Girish
