PADS library conversion to Allegro Library

Good day. Our company is immigrating from Mentor Graphics PADS to Cadence Allegro. I already found a way to import the layout of PADS to Allegro PCB editor but exporting the PADS library and importing it to Allegro is not simple.

I found a process on how to convert a PADS part into Allegro but this process involves converting a part one at a time.

is there a process in which i can convert the parts all at the same time and place them accordingly on the converted allegro layout.

thanks in advance.

If you have the converted board in Allegro PCB Editor you can use File >Export >Libraries; select the elements you want to create and a directory to export them to then select "Export". This will create, for example, the .dra, .psm, .ssm, .fsm, .pad files that you need for later use.

If you have a PADS design that has all of your library parts in it you would be able to recreate the entire library.

by the way, can i add another question sir Rik... i successfully imported traces and parts into allegro but without nets, they all shows dummy net although I included "connections" when i exported ASCII from my PADS layout. i tried exporting the nets from the PADS logic and then importing it to allgro which says no error on netin log file and yet they are still dummy net. i also tried derive connections, same result. can you help me.

    very much appreciated.

    Hi,

I think you need to import "Routes" too. I've never had it happen when it didn't translate the electrical connections. Odd.

    Good day.
