Export to STEP

Hello,

I'm a Mechanical Designer and would like to request assistance.
Could someone do me a favor and convert this board to a .step file?

I didn't attach a file because it exceeds the limits.
There are links in the middle of this page.
http://pandaboard.org/content/resources/references

Hopefully the zipped STEP file will be under the forum limits.
If not I will use an email address.

TIA
Kenneth

There is no STEP translator from Allegro. You have the choice of either IDF or DXF. The website you posted already has the dxf file.

    Thanks for the reply Steve.
    I'm using SolidWorks.

I looked at the dxf but it only has top view with board layers.  I was after a 3D solid model.

If the dxf had side views with connectors that would have worked well enough.
I tried to open .BRD file but I got an error about a missing library.

Oh well, off to look for my ruler.

Solidworks (and all the others) don't have the capabiluty to open the Allegro brd file. They will open the IDF file though. Here it is.

    Thanks again.
Unfortunately I can't open this file.
I was contacted by another person who is going to create a step file.
I'll wait and see what they post.

Ken, Simplified Solutions Inc.has a web-based service - called IDF to 3D - that will convert an IDF file from any CAD package into a STEP model. If you can not generate the IDF file they can probably help with that as well.

I have sent them an IDF file of the Pandaboard Allegro design and they are working on the conversion over the next day or so.

Once that is complete, I will send the STEP file to you.  They will post the STEP file at www.simplifiedsolutionsinc.com  in the next few weeks or so.

In the meantime, if anyone else would like a copy of the STEP model, please send me your email address.

    Regards,

    Mike Wilson
