OrCAD, parts and footprints

Hi, I'm using OrCAD 16.5 Lite version, which I just downloaded a few days ago.

I have created a very simple schematic in OrCAD Capture and I'm ready to edit a PCB for it. But I need footprints for all parts, of course.

The question is: I know the package and dimension for each part in my schematic, but I don't know the respective OrCAD footprint code for it. Is there some kind of cross reference or equivalence table between industry standard package names and OrCAD footprints codes?

What can I do if a package doesn't have an OrCAD footprint available?

Thanks in advance for any reply.

Ciao.

The sample footprints are in share\pcb\pcb_lib\symbols directory of the installation, you will need to open them in PCB Editor, set the file type to DRA, to check them. If you need additional footprints, you will need to create the padstacks with the Pad Designer then create the footprints, Package Symbols, in PCB Editor, File>New, Package Symbol, or Package Symbol (wizard). See the algrolibdev.pdf, in the doc\algrolibdev directory of the installation for reference.
