Cross Section Chart

Wild
Wild over 13 years ago

 Version 16.5 S017 (Latest Hotfix - 17)

Created a cross section chart, the top surface - Air is set to 63 mil, but the bottom surface is set to 0 mil.

Looked at the layout cross section  table, I do not see a way to change the top layer thickness - (air) to any value.

Any one else have this issue, and or a solution?

If not I will create a service request.

Regards,

    I would look at a techfile output in a text editor to see if there is a thickness associated with the surface layer

    File >Export Techfile
    Give it a name and Export it
    Open the .tcf file in a text editor such as TextPad. Search for the Cross section part by looking for <crossSection>
    Under each layer there is a thickness listed.

    Example of what you might see.

            <attribute>
              <name>CDS_LAYER_THICKNESS</name>
              <value>63.00</value>
              <Origin>gBackEnd</Origin>
            </attribute>

    You could edit the thickness, save the file as a new techfile and then import it using File >Import >Techfile.

    Thanks for the reply.

    Techfile has:

    <name>SURFACE_INDEX_0</name>
            <attribute>
              <name>CDS_LAYER_TYPE</name>
              <value>SURFACE</value>
              <Origin>gBackEnd</Origin>
            </attribute>
            <attribute>
              <name>CDS_LAYER_MATERIAL</name>
              <value>AIR</value>
              <Origin>gBackEnd</Origin>
            </attribute>
            <attribute>
              <name>CDS_LAYER_NEGATIVE_ARTWORK</name>
              <value>FALSE</value>
              <Origin>gBackEnd</Origin>
            </attribute>
            <attribute>
              <name>CDS_LAYER_IS_SHIELD</name>
              <value>FALSE</value>
              <Origin>gBackEnd</Origin>
            </attribute>
            <attribute>
              <name>CDS_LAYER_THICKNESS</name>
              <value>0.000</value>
              <Origin>gBackEnd</Origin>
            </attribute>
            <attribute>

    Looks like it is set to 0.000 (Note this is the first occurance of the CDS_LAYER_THICKNESS in the file.

    In the IPC356 file the board thickness is defined correctly.

    My current fix is to edit the text directly in the fab layers, however it would be nice to understand where this came from.

    Follow up:

    After I edited the text in the cross section chart:

    When I recreated the Cross Section Chart and the information is now correct.
