Custom Shape Symbols Pads

Hello Folks,

I have devloped shape symbols (.ssm) for any custom/irregular shapes that will be used in a pad stack. A rough outline of the implementation:

2. Create the pad stack using the shape with the following:

o Regular pad geometry: = shape
o Shape: = shape you created in step 1

I am not sure how to update this shape in this library. It would be really nice if some one could put some light on how to include this custom symbol in shape library.

Regards,
Rahil

Well I solved the issue. All you have to do is save your SSM symbol in Shape symbol library.

You can't add soldermask to a ssm symbol. You can either define a new shape symbol for soldermask and solderpaste, then use the Pad Designer to call up the different shape symbols for soldermask and solderpaste. Remember the ssm file can only be drawn on etch/top but once saved it can be included on any layer in the pad designer.

The other way is to just draw soldermask or solderpaste in the symbol dra file.

Can't you create shapes in the symbol dra file and import those into Pad Designer?

I created a shape and added soldermask as its a LCC part with the 8 inside pads beveled and added a soldermask but my problem is that the ratsnest connects to the outside corner of the shape and not the center of the shape where the origin is located.

I serched a lot of topics but come up empty.
