OrCAD 16.5 Extracting Gerber files.

Hello all,

I've made a double layer pcb and I now have to get the gerber files so they can be send away.

The things i've seen about gerber files are a bit confusing to me.

Can some one give me some clear instructions about creating the different layers like TOP, BOTTOM, SILK_TOP ect.

I can't see YouTube movies because it is blocked here in my company.

Regrards,

 Tom

Have a look at <your_install_dir\doc\algroman\algroman.pdf but the basics are set the display to look like what you need for your artwork (turn layers on/off to suit) the go to Manufacture Artwork - Film Parameters, select one of the artwork names and use RMB (right mouse button) Add and specify a name, the artwork name produced will match the display.

Now, I am want make it Gerber data for the transforing the data.

The .art file can be read into any Gerber viewer (It is Gerber Data). Look at Manufacture - Artwork - General Parameters tab for the gerber types you can use. Most gerber viewers will read this. Take a look at GC-Prevue or CAM350 or Viewmate.

If you want to change the file extension type look at Setup - User Preferences - File_management - Versioning and change the ext_artwork from art to gtd

we are getting error  when creating negative art file,

we need its Image polarity for a negative etching.

ERROR: aborting film - Layer polarity of layer ETCH/TOP does not
match film polarity of Negative. DRC may be unreliable, when going to create negative art file.

What is the cause of its?
