High Pin Count Non-Symetric Land Pattern Creation

Hello,

I am new to Cadence Allegro and will need to create a few land patterns that will have between 700 to 1000 pins.  I recently created a 220 pin pattern by manually entering pad stack co-ordinates from the command prompt.  The land pattern in this case did not have a consistant pattern as several locations are missing balls which create voids in the array.  It all worked out fine, however the process was time consuming was subject to error.

Is there a way to place pad stacks when creating a .dra via an excel spreadsheet?  Any and all help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Clint

     The short answer: yes!

The best way for a beginner is to record a script and enter a few of the coordinates and operations by hand.  Then stop the recording and take a look at the script that recorded.  You will see a few simple commands in the script.

Then adapt your Excel spreadsheet to output the correct format that can be played back in seconds in Allegro.

Are there other ways?  Of course, this one is the best way to start IMHO.

    Hi Bill,

Thanks for the pointer, as I would not have thought of that immediately.  I can see how I could apply this technique to many processess with a little experimentation.

    Thanks again!

Here is an excel spreadsheet that will do what you want.  You'll have to enable macros for this to work.

Just fill out the fields and click create script.  Then replay  the script in a .dra.

Looks like email attachments don't go through. Here is the spreadsheet.
