PCB Editor and "find"

When using the "find" feature, is there a way to have the screen go to the part you are looking for? Example, I'm zoomed in on a specific part of the board. I want to locate a part so I use the "find" feature and type in the reference desiginator. The screen remains where it is and I don't know if the part was found or not. Once I zoom out and start looking around, I see that the part that I was looking for was highlighted, but I was never taken to it. What use is the "find" feature if it does not take you to the part?

Example, in 15.7 hit "CTL-F" then type in the reference desiginator and return. You will be taken to that parts location.

Sorry about that - I did test it and it seemed to work but second time thru it didn't.   I was missing the prepopup command.  Please try the alias below (Note: I updated my previous post with the update in the body and the attachment)

alias ~F "prepopup ; pop dyn_option_select 'Selection set@:@Clear all selections' ; set prompt ; prompt 'Enter Ref Des' ; refdes $prompt ; zoom selection"

During my testing I already had  the prompt variable defined so I didn't see the error the Steve was seeing. "E - prompt: Variable not defined"   I corrected this as well so the alias should now work as described, not that I am letting Cadence off the hook here but I wanted to provide an immediate workaround to the issue.

    Hope this helps,

Thanks.  Works good for me setting the alias at the command window.

Wow, I go to one meeting this morning and missed all of this action!

Mike, thanks for working through this. I have a few things to take care of this afternoon, I hope to try this later today.

Got a chance to crank this in this morning. Works like a charm.

Thanks Mike and thank you all for working through this and providing multiple ideas and suggestions.

This was a very good thread.

Works for me as well Mike. Good job. I'm still hoping Cadence do something "proper" eventually....
