Moving multiple components at once

Thanks to Mike, Steve, Scott and Roger I am now happily finding and placing components on my test board. I hit a minor snag late yesterday and was hoping I could figure it out on my own without having to bother everybody again, but..........

I just placed a bunch of resistors and capacitors in a nice linear, side by side fashion. As it usually happens, I missed placing a cap and it needs to fit right in the middle of the parts I just placed.

In Placement Edit mode, I can move each individual part one by one and make a gap for the new part to fit in, but instead I selected four parts at once by dragging a window around them. Then clicking on one of the parts within the window, tried to drag the whole group in any direction and nothing happens. Clicking on any one single part, I can move it just fine. How do I select and move multiple parts at once?

Try selecting multiple parts>RMB>Move.  I think you have to make sure you are hovering over a pad or feature of one of the part or the move command doesn't come up.

    Thanks for the reply.

When I select the parts and the RMB, I don't see a "move" command. But drilling down into the RMB options a bit more, I fount that if you select "symbol" there are more options under that and one of them is "move". This moves the selected parts.

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.

    Tom,

Alternatively, you can use the verb-noun commmand sequence by selecting the Edit > Move commmand (prior to selecting anything). Then LMB draw a window around the mmultiple parts to select them.  Then you should be able to LMB click on one of them and move the entire group together.

I too get annoyed by not having the desired "options" in the RMB menu at the right times.
