Copper shape not connecting to pads

I want to connect two components using a copper shape. The respective component pins are the same net and reside on the top etch.

I create my shape on the top etch overlapping the two pins and assign it the net name of the pins. The shape accepts the net name, but will not "flood" the pads as I was expecting it to do.

    Have you tried Shape/Global Dynamic params/thermal relief connects tab/ and assigning full contact for thru or smt pin?

    You can adjust the thermal relief thickness here also.
