Orcad schematic design reuse

I am invoved in a design that has multiple derivatives.

So the same CPU ports are connected to the same DDR, same CPU ports connected to data flash etc.

Same power IC etc, etc.

Whenever there is a small change, I have to open all the schematics and change one by one.

Can I have just one design file which the other designs refer to.

You make the change once in that design file and the others automatically get updated.

    You CAN use external designs BUT you need to be careful. Define a hierarchical block that has a Schematic View defintion that has a path to an external DSN file. This is all well and good and 16.6 is designed to look after the annotation in each design better than previous releases. You probably need to define a relative, rather than an absolute part to the external DSN file, otherwise it will be pretty difficult to move the files to a different directory location. One potential issue could be. move things along in time and "someone" decides to change the circuitry of the refered block without realising that many other designs reference this block, that could be fairly undesirable!
