New to Cadence but have experience with Altium Designer

I am new to Cadence. I made a footprint and stored it on another location on my hard drive. I am creating a IPC standard library. How do I link it to a personelized schematic library?

    Double click the part in the OrCAD Capture and locate the property called PCB Footprint, put your IPC footprint name here.

    If you want to assign footprint at library level and then you need to open symbol library (.olb) in capture, open specific part, do view package and add/update PCB footprint property in that dialog.

    Doing this in schematic would associate footprint with specific instance in that design only, where as above would associate a symbol library component with the footprint. Thus you don't have to do this association again in all new schematics created using these symbols.

    Also in order to make these footprints available to layout tool "PCB Editor"  (also known as Allegro) you should update the PSMPATH & PADPATH variable in allegro to include footprint path.
