OrCAD Capture 16.6 Tcl Dashboard

I don't seem to be able to open up the tcl dashboard, I goto Accessories->Cadence Tcl/Tx Utilities->Utilities... but nothing happens.  Is there any other way to get the Tcl Dashboard, or is there anything else I can do to try and get the dashboard back?

In the Capture command window (TCL window), write ?  to see the error message, if it displays anything relevant.

Also, in the command window itself, write capCheckPkg to see if this brings up the dashboard.

    The ? gives back

wrong # args: should be "info commands ?pattern?"
        while executing
"info commands Adding Learning Resources ... under Help Menu"

    capCheckPkg does nothing.

     Thanks,

When you open the Command Window (TCL) check that you have the 20, or so, TCL scripts loading from the capAutoLoad resources The capAppLaunchMenu.tcl is the one that loads the dashboard, the reported message is from the caplearningresources.tcl load and seems to be "normal" - as a temporary measure, you could try moving the tcl scripts one by one from the capAutoLoad directory to a another location, like Desktop so that the autoloader won't find them, work back through the "loading list", as in move the caplearningresources.tcl first and repeat the Start Capture, use "?" in the Command Window and see what gets reported as the scripts are moved from teh autoload. The "?" only reports the last error encountered, so you may have another issue with the autoload that was masked by the loading of the caplearningresources.tcl (and so on).

It looks like its related to the way I start Capture.  I'm using Windows 7 64 bit, and just started Capture using the start menu, and the Dashboard started up ok.  However if I start capture by double clicking on the .opj or .dsn file in windows explorer then the Dashboard does not load.  This is very repeatable.  I have not tried playing around with the tcl scripts yet.  When the dashboard doesn't load, there is a window that pops up and disapears very quickly.

Probably best to "leave well alone" in the installation. Possibly "something" to do with File Associations then. Windows 7 (and Vista and, likely 8) store "User" and "System" File Associations. The installation sets up "System" File Associations that are managed through the Cadence SPB Switch Release - I have these set and the "double-click" still gets the Dashboard displayed, as expected. Maybe some "User" File Associations, "Default Program" settings can upset this? ("User" File Associations win, you could try an Unassociate application to remove the User File Associations, there are some on the web, and see if that helps)

(Even when running OK, there is a window briefly displayed before the Dashboard opens)

You probably need to get this checked out via Cadence support, it's unlikely that someone on the forum is going to be able to diagnose and resolve this issue.
