Creating Guard Rings

I am working an example learning how to do PCB design using Allegro PCB editor from the OrCAD 16.6 suite, and I'm having a problem where, when I try to put a guard ring around a through-hole pin, it erases the trace when I place the last point of the arc.  It won't let me place a complete circle.  Is there something I'm doing wrong?

I've placed a via from ground to the top routing layer, a straight trace that goes above my pin, then as I place the arcs around the pin, it will not let me complete the circle.  If I click to place the last point of the arc, it erases the whole thing and has me start over again.

Make sure "Replace Etch" is unselected.  This can be found in the "Options" tab when routing.  This is typically a fly-out window on the right side of the screen.  Allegro is attempting to minimize the route length.  There are other methods too with shapes/voids that can be used as well if interested.

I tried again with "replace etch" unchecked, and it did the same.  It lets me get 3/4 of the way through routing the trace, then when I go to place the last point to complete the ring, it erases the whole circle and I have to start over.

if you have to make circle then use ADD-->CIRCLE

if you will use ADD-->ARC W/RADIUS then you will be able to make only arc not complete circle.

Agreed that Add->Circle is more appropriate.   I think you are wanting to add vias at specified increments?  You can do this with Edit->Copy, then adjust to "Polar" coordinates and adjust the angle, etc...

Otherwise you can do the add-Arc method but you need to set up your grids correctly.  Add a via at each segment which is what I think may have been missing?
