Index File Error

Everytime I try and run a simulation of my circuit in pspice, I get this error:

Unable to find index file nom.ind for library file nom.lib
Making new index file nom.ind for library file nom.lib
ERROR -- Unable to open index file C:\Cadence\SPB_16.3\tools\PSpice\Library\nom.ind. Refer to 'How PSpice uses model libraries' section of pspug.
ERROR -- Unable to make index for library file C:\Cadence\SPB_16.3\tools\PSpice\Library\nom.lib

I keep adding C:\Cadence\SPB_16.3\tools\pspice\library\nom.lib as a global library, but it is always replaced as just nom.lib. When I try adding that as a global library I get an error saying it doesn't exist.

Any help would be really appreciated!

Are you running with a full product license, rather than as an unlicensed Demo, or Lite, product? The unlicensed versions use "nomd.lib", rather than "nom.lib". When you add the Path and "nom.lib" as a global library, this gets aliased to "nom.lib", if you just specify "nom.lib", that means "the simulation directory" and it won't be there! In a licensed environment, check that you have "full control" over the installation directories, the index file needs to get created. When you add the nom.lib library, check that the library path at the bottom of the window includes the directory for the supplied libraries, in your case that would look to be C:\Cadence\SPB_16.3\tools\PSpice\Library.

Thanks for the reply. I'm accessing the program through my university's network, and I believe it is the full version (as all the features are available). The library path at the bottom does seem to be just what you said it should be.

What steps should I take to check if I have full control over the directories?

     Hello,

I'm in the same situation, e.g. getting the error

"Unable to find index file nom.ind for library file nom.lib
Making new index file nom.ind for library file nom.lib
ERROR -- Unable to open index file C:\Cadence\SPB_16.3\tools\PSpice\Library\nom.ind. Refer to 'How PSpice uses model libraries' section of pspug.
ERROR -- Unable to make index for library file C:\Cadence\SPB_16.3\tools\PSpice\Library\nom.lib "

and probably from the same source (running in UMD's VCL) .  Did you find a solution?
