Netlist error

TK2013
TK2013 over 12 years ago

I created my connector footprint by using the "CONN RCPT 46X2" model from the library then I renamed it as 123456.dra and put it in my project folder. When I created the Netlist and the error was listed in the netrev file as Porblems with the name of device 'CONN RCPT 46X2_123456_CONN RCPT 46X2': Name is too long.'

I tried to look under its property and the 123456 was listed under footprint column correct. I didn't know where else I can change its name or to look for! Can someone please help?

Thanks so much!

    Hi TK2013,

Setup > design parameters >Design >There is a Long name size. Usually default is 31. Change it to 255 (Max value You can enter). Then try to import netlist.

    Good Day,

    Pavan Kumar Kulkarni

    Hi Pavan,

Thanks for your help! I'm new with Cadence PCB Editor. Please let me know what format (Artwork, IPF....) and where do I need to import my Netlist to.

He's not asking you to do anything different than you did before.  Just change the Long Name parameter to 255 and do the same thing you did before to create the netlist and resulting error.

Are you using OrCad Capture for your schematic capture?  If so, when you go to create the Netlist, there is a PCB Editor tab.  In that tab window, select the Setup button and in that window you will see a Miscellaneous area With a box for Device/Net/Pin Name Char Limit.  Change that to the same number you set in Allegro, e.g. 255.  Try netlisting again.
