Why can't you slide components?

Hi,

I am using 16.6 and can easily slide vias, clines, etc. but not components. Sure it might cause some issues but if it a simple 2 pin component or even a DFN/QFN component with hug only turned on it wont screw everything up. Am I missing something or is this just not possible?

     Slide is for copper connections.  Edit->Move will move the component.  There are other menu modes that will let you click on the part and move it.  Be sure to use the options menu and find menu for DRC control and Selection filteras well.

    Thanks for the reply. I do understand it is for copper connections but why isn't it extended into components as well? When moving a component the connections stay where they are which is a pain if you want to move it say 500 mils... then you have to redo every single connection rather than just sliding the component (with hug only) then sliding all the clines.

    FYI: When moving components you can check the Stretch Etch box on the Options tab.  This maintains the etch connections to the pins, but unfortunately can leave a real mess sometimes.
