Run a Tools - Reports - Padstack Defintion Report then search this report for Dummy, open that padstack and correct the ilegal null pad issue then save it back into the design and try to create your gerbers. Your padstack needs either a proper entry (pad size etc) or a NULL entry.

     Thanks for the reply.

I checked the padstack it has a null settings.

The situation is I replaced the mechanical pin of the heatsink to dummy in order to place a TH via to connect it to ground.

Refer to the image attached. Is there a wrong a settings?

Before i ugraded my hotfix S027, i can output gerber without that error (we normally do the same process in changing the mech pin of hetasink).

    Thanks for the reply

You have a non defined pad and that is why Allegro is complaining. Not the best way to do this type of thing. Why don't you just define the pad correctly as the TH Via size, drill hole, Start, Default Internal and End pad and then you should be fine. Having a pad that isn't a pad is not a good method.

     Thanks steve for the reply.

Actually, its a customer  request. In the previous hotfix of Allegro V16.6, there is no issue about this.

The heatsink library was made by the customer (mechanical symbol). On the last stage of the design, they want to make it PTH and with GND connection (with thermal and antipad settings). The method that was provided by the customer is to change the mechanical pin to dummy, then add a PTH via that will connect to Ground.

I am thinking if this issue is just on S027 hotfix?

    regards,

    eric
