Drilll symbol in padstack editor

Does anybody have a good methodology for allocating Figure and Char to Drill symbols when new padstacks are created?

If fact is there a need to do this at the padstack level now since it can be  auto generated at board level?

Above 2 questions assume there is infact a need to produce a drill legend anyway ...

Current best practice suggestions please...

I doubt that there is a "good methodology" for this, I tend to use the drill size for the size and "Cross" or "Circle" with letter "A" for the symbol and then use Drill Customization down the line if required. The Padstack Design will now complain if you try to save a Padsatck file with no drill symbol defined, so it might be a good idea to have a plan to "add something" when creating the Padstack, even if you always use "the same thing" and handle the actual settings with Drill Customization every time.

     oldMouldy,

Many thanks for your feedback and also the reminder that you have to enter something for the symbol!  I shall most likelyimplemet a variation on your method with perhaps the letter N for non-plated holes

    cheers, Richard
