How to delete a part from the Local Part Database in CIS Explorer?

Capture CIS 16.6 in Windows 7. On the project manager window, I right-click on the design and select "Part Manager" from the pop-up menu. On the Part Manger window I double-click on a part (a resistor) to open the CIS Explorer window.

Now I derive a new database part. The "New Database Part" dialog prohibits me from assigning a part number; okay, whatever. I click on the "Link Part" button.

Now the $1,000,000 question: how do I delete this TMP-XX part from the local part database? For example, the part is obsolete, I want to ensure it cannot be selected in future projects, and therefore I want to delete it from the local parts database. How is that done?

Or for that matter, how do I edit a part in the local part database--e.g., change its "Part Number" property, or change the Distributor field, etc.?

This is done through management of the database, Capture CIS has no means to actually manage the database contents beyond adding database parts as temporary parts. The act of "approving" the part, changing any "TMP" Part Number field to a "real" part number, is done from database management, similarly, editing any field data is done through database management. Typically, database records are not deleted but flagged as "obsolete" with some additional data. Datbase management would be specific to the database for the datasource that the data is coming from, Excel, Access, SQL Server, and so on. In a scenario where the data is being derived from a corporate ERP / MRP system, it would make no sense for users of Capture CIS to be able to edit the data in the corporate database.

Thanks for the reply. It's annoying that Capture CIS cannot MODIFY or DELETE database records, but oh well; at least I now know those operations aren't possible from within Capture CIS.

Note to self: On a Windows 7 host the path to the default local part database is:

    $CDSROOT\tools\capture\samples\BENCH.MDB

This file can be opened and edited using Microsoft Access (p/o the Microsoft Office suite). See also, page 30 in the "OrCAD CIS User Guide" manual (October 2012) (cisug.pdf).

NTS2: On 64-bit Windows 7 hosts there are two ODBC tools: a 32-bit tool and a 64-bit tool. Of course, both tools are named odbccad32.exe (???). The two file paths are:

    C:\Windows\System32\odbccad32.exe   ; 64-bit version

    C:\Windows\SysWOW64\odbccad32.exe   ; 32-bit version

I think the file path should be like this:

    C:\Windows\System32\odbccad32.exe   ; 32-bit version

    C:\Windows\SysWOW64\odbccad32.exe   ; 64-bit version

I am trying to revert previously 'approved' parts back to their original 'TMP' parts. Any idea if there is a way to do this either through CIS or SQL database management? I have tried manually editing using database tools, but CIS does not recognize the newly assigned TMP-XX as a TMP part.

Long story short, some parts need to go through the approval process again, however I do not want to lose their part history or their original assigned Part number. I would like to revert the majority of the database back to TMP parts. It seems the database stores the original TMP number, so it should be possible to use the database tools to revert back to this TMP number, have CIP recognize the parts once again as TMP, rather than approved, and therefore categorize them as TMP (permissions etc). Then, as I reprocess the parts, I would like to reassign them back to their original assigned part number, which should be easy enough in CIP by looking through the history (or even just writing it down).

Can anyone provide me with thoughts on whether this is possible, or ideas how this would be accomplished?
    Thanks
