Power symbol connection

Hello,

I'm a newbie in Orcad design and I have a simple question.

I have create some flat designs with off-page connectors and that's ok but for power symbol VCC (and also for GND)  the off-page connector isn't necessary if the net name is the same on every sheet. Is this correct? Should I connect a connector also to power supply nets instead?

And If i design a hierarchical project with VCC net on many sheet should I use a off-page connector and a port connector or is it connected on all different pages of different folders of the design? Best regards.

As a starting point, all nets on a schematic page are "private" to that page, unless thay are connected to a symbol - global power, off-page, or hierarchical port. The "global power symbols" are intended to make power nets "public" to the whole design, regardless of "flat" or "hierarchical", and nets will be connected by name, no further "wiring" is required. Off-Page and H-Port symbols make nets "public" to other pages, or the next "level" up the hierarchy respectively. BUT Off-Page and H-Ports have precedence, connected to "global power" symbols, they will take over the naming and connectivity of nets that they are attached to and those nets must then be "wired" correctly to ensure the desired connectivity. This is intended because there could be a requirement to isolate the power connections to certain pages and H-blocks of the design and then make additional connections in the design.

    Hi oldmoudy,

Is this applicable to the 17.2 version as well ? Also, if the design is a simple flat schematic, are these global ports really necessary ?
