Shape void element backoff

I used to be able to build complicated static shapes inside the editor by using the shape void element tool. I could place a block of etch and go to town voiding it manually with other shapes. This of course required that I set the shape to shape constraint to 0 so that the voided shape wouldn't grow by the constraint every time the primary shape was voided. I'm not sure in what release it happened but I can't seem to be able to shape void element with a zero constraint. Any help / ideas?
