Schematic Symbol Libraries

Fattie

Sorry guys, I'm pretty new here. I'm starting a small project, but I couldn't find any schematic symbol that I need, not even a 100 pins connector. I thought OrCAD comes with some libraries, but what I found are very limited. I'm wondering if I installed it correctly or I will have to create every symbol that i need myself? or is there a place I can download them? both schematic symbol and pcb libraries. Thanks for your help and advise.

Ya fattie.. It's is possible. You can edit the edit the existing symbol with make editing and saving it an new name of it. For (E.g) You place the any type header (1,2,10,20.....). Place the header and Right click on part------> Edit part---->Edit the pin----> or place the pin.Correspondingly you can place several pin continuously. This is the one possible option for your question. Thanks & Regards Dhamodharan

If you have very special parts in your desing you may need to create them by yourelf. However, for generic parts like FPGAs, Processors Memories,.. you can google the web and find Evaluation/reference boards which were designed using OrCAD. You can simply open and use those parts in your schematic. For PCB footprints - called Symbols here - you should export them as a library by goign to File->Export->Libraries in PCB Editor. Afterwards, you need to give the path for symbols/shapes and pads to your own design. Go to PCB Editor , Setup->User Properties->Paths->Library and define the paths for padstack and symbols/shape in padpath and psmpath. This is the easiest and shortest way you can save design time.
