Hi Friends,

Is it possible to add a text file or Excel sheet in the Allegro PCB editor menus. So that file will be open once mouse click is done.I have added the menus by editing env file but am not aware how to link the specific files to the menu command.

Looking for valuable comments.

Thanks and Regards

You can launch programs from Allegro using the "shell" command as long as the path to the desired program is set up in your OS environment variables.  As an example, type shell in the command line in Allegro and a DOS window will come up.  Type shell notepad and a notepad window will open.  I just tried the same thing with Excel, but I had to add the path to the folder the executable is in to my Windows environment path.  So, that being said, you should be able to create a menu item that executes the shell command with whatever you would want.

If you only need Windows support and your have the xls and xlsx file extensions registered to open Excel then you can do the following if you have an Excel file named Book1.xlsx:

        skill axlPdfView("Book1.xlsx")

This Skil API, on Windows, opens given file by the program registerd  for the file extension

I am referring to your Windows Environment Variables.  I just added the PATH variable to my user variables and added the path to Excel as the Variable value.  In my case it is: C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\OFFICE11 Your install may be different depending on your MS Office version.  How you get to your OS Environment variables will depend on your Windows version.  I am still on Windows XP, so I can just right-click My Computer then Properties then click on the Advanced tab and then Environment Variables button.
